At Murrumburrah High School, we are committed to providing comprehensive High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) opportunities through a diverse range of programs and experiences designed to challenge and inspire students. Through academic, cultural, sporting, and extracurricular experiences, we support high potential and gifted students to develop their skills, explore their interests, and achieve their full potential. What is high potential and gifted education?

High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

Our ASTRA program extends and challenges students to meet their potential academically
All our students, including high potential and gifted students, are encouraged to take on leadership roles through student representative council leadership, mentoring programs and peer coaching.
Our Student Showcase Evening provides an opportunity for high potential students to perform for their families and community and exhibit their artworks and technology projects.
Creative writing workshops help to develop students' literary aspirations, along with support to enter local competitions and festivals
We work with our students and their families to access sports training squads, coaching sessions, and competition at a Regional, State, National and International level, ensuring their academic pursuits are maintained while they follow their sporting passions.
Our Agriculture program and Farm Club are recognised as best-practice to develop students' interest and achievements in the Agricultural Industry. Students have the opportunity to grow and show produce and farm animals at a Local and State level, fostering high potential in food and fibre production.

The Premier’s Debating Challenge helps our students to build logical arguments and confidence in public speaking.
The Premier’s Sporting Challenge (PSC) promotes whole-school participation in physical activity with leadership pathways and professional learning.

The representative School Sport Pathway and CHSSA events enable our students to trial and compete in sports at Regional, State and National levels, fostering discipline, commitment and collaboration
The Science and Engineering Challenge creates opportunities for students to problem-solve and work collaboratively to complete projects in a competitive environment.
